Xavier Townsend

Xavier Townsend, originally from Media, Pennsylvania, started his dance training at eight with jazz and tap, later adding hip-hop and ballet. He trained at the Philadelphia Ballet School and Rebecca Davis Dance School, and competed for Broadway Bound Dance Academy, earning awards like Mr. Starquest and the Chloe Arnold Tap scholarship.
Xavier received a B.F.A. scholarship to Point Park University, and later finished his studies at Peridance Capezio in NYC focusing on Ballet and Contemporary. Since then, Xavierhas been freelancing in commercial, concert, and theater work, both nationally and internationally.
His career highlights include appearing in a Target commercial, on a Times Square billboard, in the Season 14 Academy Intro of "So You Think You Can Dance," and making his theater debut in "Newsies" at the Media Theatre. He also performed in "Dragon Spring Phoenix Rise" with Akram Khan and is featured in the 2023 documentary "The Performer."
Xavier has collaborated with artists and companies like 50 Cent, Netflix, Akram Khan, and Peggy Choy. As a dance educator, he has taught in Philadelphia, Maryland, NYC, and the University of Wisconsin, and has assisted at The Ailey School and LaGuardia High School. His teaching philosophy emphasizes building confident, musical, and technically skilled dancers in a supportive environment.
